Under cooling, diesel fuel becomes turbid: paraffins change to a solid state and precipitate. Such turbidity is not dangerous until agglomeration begins when paraffin molecules link into large clots. Once paraffin agglomerates become commensurate with the diameter of micropores of the fine fuel filter, the filter will be blocked by white paraffin gel. The fuel supply to the engine will be cut off, and all attempts to start it will be unsuccessful.

Purpose

  • helps to reduce the limit temperature of diesel fuels filterability while providing sedimentation stability (resistance to delamination) during cold storage;
  • increases opportunities for producing diesel fuels of the required grade/class (by low-temperature properties) by involving fractions with a higher end-boiling point.
