MC-Rock™ technology is a mixture of inorganic powders, with the grain size of 3 to 5 microns that are fed sequentially into the process water to obtain a solution with desired properties, which turns into a high-strength material in its turn.
MC-Rock™ formulations are selected depending on the static temperature in the squeeze cementing interval. Operating range of static temperatures in squeeze cementing interval lies between -5° С and 180° С. No factors other than static temperature in the squeeze cementing internal affect the compound.
The main distinguishing feature of MC-Rock™ is its penetrating capacity. Due to the fact that the maximum grain size of the components included into the composition of this technology ranges from 3 to 5 microns (which is comparable to grain size of micro-cements), penetrating capacity of MC-Rock™ technology compounds is several times higher than the capacity of conventional cements, such as class G cement, for example, with its grain size ranging between 40 and 60 microns.
In comparison with micro-cements, compounds based on MC-Rock™ technologies have a number of advantages:
Task: Elimination of behind-the-casing flows on the oilfield of OJSC Yangpur Oil Company.
Solution: Repair of leaking casing string (6 5/8") was performed on the Vyuzhnoe oilfield of OJSC Yangpur Oil Company.
Before the injection, the static fluid level (process water) was 213 m. Water pumping was performed at maximum pumping rate using CA-320 unit, which allowed to create overbalance of 2 atm. Well intake capacity – 16 m³ in 30 minutes. Intensive intake of process water was caused by a fault in 6 5/8" production string in the interval of 1132,4 – 1133,4 m confined to box coupling of the production string at the depth of 1133,2 m.
In order to solve this problem, 5 m³ of specially selected MC-Rock™ compound was pumped in through the mule shoe of tubing 73 so that 2.4 m³ of the compound remained in the casing string and 2.6 m³ squeezed into formation for imbibition. Pressure test showed that the production casing was sealed. The well was successfully put into production.
Task: Remedial cementing job in RN - STAVROPOLNEFTEGAZ OOO.
Solution: The remedial cementing job was performed with application of МС-Rock™ technology on the high-temperature wells of the Pushkarskoye oilfield.
Remedial cementing operations on this well were complicated by extremely high formation temperatures – the static temperature in the leaking interval reached 135 - 145°С. Due to the fact, that use of cement slurries, as well as resins, for this type of remedial cementing is impossible, application of MC-Rock™ system became the only solution to the problem. This technology implies the use of formulations suitable for work in extremely high temperatures when the average size of the system's particles equals to 5 microns.
Remedial cementing was performed in four intervals of the well, and during those operations, the system confirmed all the declared properties and demonstrated a successful result. After drilling out all the bridge plugs and pressure test, MC-Rock wells were successfully submitted for putting in production.
